MSc in Agricultural Engineering student joined REPAIR
Maria del Carmen Pertíñez joined REPAIR as an employee of the sustainability and innovation department of Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias de España. Future Agricultural Engineer, who will finish her studies in March 2025.
She has a background linked to research, working on different projects during her studies. The main objective of the projects has always been the sustainability of the agri-food sector. For example, she participated in a field trial of tomato cultivation under solar panels, also developing a model for yield prediction in vineyards under climate change conditions, among others.
During her degree at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, she carried out her final thesis comparing different varieties of tomatoes to evaluate their response to water stress, in order to make a more efficient use of water in tomato cultivation. She is now focused on her master’s thesis evaluating the carbon sequestration potential of woody crops to make a proposal for a carbon sequestration calculator. All these experiences led her to have a deeper insight into the scientific world and a more critical view. She is originally from Madrid, and in her free time she enjoys going to the mountains and doing sports there.
